Based on an aperiodic tiling sent to us by Sir Roger Penrose. Aperiodic means that there is no repeating pattern. This small section has rotational symmetry but the entire tiling does not.
Our original knitted afghan using this design was bought by the Mathematics Collection of the Science Museum (London).
